Lodge of the Year!
ly
fishing is a lifetime sport that can be introduced to children at an early
age. This program is designed to progressively teach all aspects of fly fishing
to kids. Emphasis will be placed on the conservation and preservation of our
natural resources and national parks, while kids learn the skills they need
to become better fly fishers. The Ranch is ideally situated to fish the many
blue ribbon trout streams in the area, as well as the rivers and lakes of
Yellowstone Park.
ere
are the programs we will offer during Summer 2004:
Youth ages 8-10
This half day seminar will be an introduction
to the world of fly fishing. We will discuss fishing in general and the differences
between spin fishing and fly fishing, fishing with bait and artificial lures
and flies. Students will learn the basic overhead cast with a fly rod and
the basics of line control. The children will go to the nearby North Fork
of the Gallatin River and learn about trout habitat, stream environment and
the world of aquatic insects. From here, we will travel to a nearby pond so
the kids can try their luck with some Rainbows and Brook trout.
Seminar size is small, with only 2-4 anglers per guide. Cost is $75 per person.
Youth ages 10-16
This all day seminar is a continued study into
the many aspects of the sport. Casting and basic line control will be a major
focus, with an introduction to the equipment and gear needed to be a successful
angler. Students will receive a lanyard with several gadgets to get them started.
A trip to the North Fork Creek to turn over rocks and discuss aquatic insects
and species will lead to a discussion of the anglers perspective on fishing
with flies. Participants will have an introduction to tying flies and trying
out the flies on a nearby pond or creek.
Seminar size is small, with only 2-4 anglers per guide. Cost is $150 per person.
