Lone Mountain Ranch is a great place to learn about fly fishing. A fly casting clinic is offered to guests at no charge at the beginning of the week. Many of our guests learn the joy of fly casting at these clinics and use their newfound skills on a guided trip.

Our ORVIS Endorsed Guides are dedicated to teaching all aspects of fly fishing to both beginners and experienced fly fishers. Emphasis is placed on teaching the correct techniques of fly fishing as well as discovery of the natural environment. Our guides enjoy helping people discover the many aspects of casting, presentation and trout behavior.

Some of the subjects covered with beginning anglers are equipment selection; casting; knot tying; trout food; river safety; reading the water; dry fly, nymph and streamer techniques; hooking, playing and landing fish; and catch and release skills. For more advanced anglers we offer the introduction or practice off other skills such as longer more accurate casting, mending and presentation.

You will receive the personal attention you need, whether you are beginning or advanced, assuring you the best quality experience .A guided float trip or wade trip on one of Montanaís blue ribbon trout streams will turn you into a devout angler. We encourage you to reserve your trips in advance.
