Alpine Lake Horse Ride and Fish - 2008

The Spanish Peaks in the Lee Metcalf Wilderness is home to some of the most pristine high alpine lakes in North America. After a two to four hour ride you will arrive at one of these lakes, and fish for Cutthroat, Rainbow, Golden Trout or Arctic Grayling. These fish receive little fishing pressure and the scenery is spectacular! After a morning of riding and fishing, enjoy a lakeside lunch and more fishing in the afternoon before heading back. On the overnight trip, you will be able to fish the entire evening and next morning.
All trips will begin and end at a designated trailhead. Please arrange your own transportation. Transportation can be provided if necessary. All riding gear, (saddle, tack, etc.) and fishing gear (rod, reel waders, float tube, flies) will be provided by the outfitter. Clients should bring raingear, hat, sunglasses, fleece or warm jacket, gloves, extra water, suntan lotion, bug spray and appropriate pants for horseback riding. For overnight trips the outfitter will provide sleeping bags, ground pads, tents, food and all camp cooking supplies. Clients should bring extra clothes, and personal items needed for camping overnight. Extra warm clothes are recommended as all of these lakes are above 8500 feet.
