Horse and pony riding are some of our favorite activities at the Ranch. Following the trails through the woods and up the mountains gives us a glimpse of what it might feel like to be Lewis & Clark many years ago. Kids rides are offered each morning and afternoon, or the whole family may opt to enjoy a ride together.

During the week, the wranglers help children develop good riding skills. Most kids rides spend time riding in the arena and on the trail with a wrangler demonstrating proper technique and skills.

At the end of the week, the kids have a chance to show off their newly acquired riding skills at the "Kid's Rodeo". The events are geared toward the skills the kids have developed and practiced all week, and everyone wins! Children 6 years and older (and at least 44 inches tall) may participate in the horse program based on their assessment and riding skills. However, we do have halter-lead pony rides for our younger cowboys and cowgirls. We also have ASTM/SEI riding helmets available upon request. Smoothed soled shoes with a 1 inch heel are required to ride horses at the Ranch. The Outdoor Shop at the Ranch has some for sale.
