Light powder snow in the early winter and spring corn snow make for wonderful skiing in the high alpine meadows.
Telemark Meadows-Climb some gentle, open alpine meadows, ski across the back bowls dropping down into Bacon Rind Creek and out from there. Ancient Douglas firs and views into Yellowstone are highlights of this trip. 9-10 miles. Difficult.
Bear Basin-From the Ranch we ski 6 miles up through trees and scattered meadows along the North Fork Creek. We break open to a beautiful alpine basin where we have lunch. The trip down is challenging turning through the trees. Difficult.
Beehive Basin back to the Ranch- Big Sky's local backcountry destination. Easy skiing into the Basin where we seek out the perfect slopes to ski. Moderate to difficult.
Yellow Mountain-This is an advanced telemark tour. We ski a steep climb up to an open meadow above the Ranch where we will link many telemark turns on our way back to the Ranch. 4-6 miles. Difficult.
Grizzly Meadows -Starts in the woods following a sinuous path to open bowls with great views and interesting telemark skiing. 9-12 miles. Difficult.
